The History of BSR

April 17th, 2010

Past: May 2006
Blaine, BigDog, Mr.Cow and a man named James started a little podcast called “The Crazy Shit Show”. The show featured a bunch of crazy shit like pranking and annoying other skype callers, “The Crazy Shit Show” ran for 33 official episodes along with a few special recordings thrown in for good measure. The reason we started a podcast in the first place is unknown, but Video Game News Radio was the inspiration (check out VGN they’re great).

Evolves: February 2007
Born Stubborn Radio was the new name for “The Crazy Shit Show” because a podcast with a name like that was hard to advertise. With the new name of “Born Stubborn Radio”, we took the show more serious. We had a format that was more strict, and we developed a few segments to add depth. The crew was also slightly adjusted. Joey joined the cast, while James and Mr.Cow decided to leave. However, Born Stubborn Radio was stopped in the Fall of 2007 because Blaine relocated and had to focus on different things.

On A Roll: Summer 2008-2009
With everything back to normal, new equipment had been purchased, Blaine was in a new location, and the Born Stubborn Radio show went strong for another year. But in mid 2009, it was shutdown and shelved again. Interest had faded slightly, and peoples lives took over. So with no time to record new episodes, another hiatus was needed.

Relaunched… again: Winter 2009-Present
Pod-casting is a hobby, and because of this, Born Stubborn Radio has been on and off for years. The power house known as Video Game News Radio was always an inspiration, and they have taken us under their wing with some advertising on their website. So rebooting the show again makes sense, and we are getting better at it in the process.

As of March 2010, Born Stubborn Radio has taken the show to youtube. First we were using youtube to put up quick little “highlight” clips of each episode, then in addition we’ve started doing actual video content, be it Movie/Music reviews, Interviews, Rants and other things we feel we have to record. The youtube channel is also a hobby, just like the podcast. We have fun doing it.

In closing:
Video Game News Radio is responsible for some great content. We were inspired by VGN, but they also inspired Mr.Cow to start his own podcast called “The Homebrew Cast”, Raven started “Tech and Games”, but one of the most successful shows to come out of it all was our friend Rich, he started My Take Radio and is gaining some major steam… We are proud to know all these guys, and we are glad you’re spending your time with us…. We’re all in this together.
